Like many of you, we’re traveling to spend Thanksgiving with family. Today, while my wife was driving, I took pictures of the clouds that seemed to be following us. My favorite was this cloud that looked like a very large bird:
Look, a bird cloud!
After we left Redding behind and started to climb, the sky began to get more menacing.
Just a little while cloud left
Just south of Mount Shasta we encountered the first flurries of snow.
Black Butte (6,334 ft.)
As I was snapping this photo near my mother-in-law’s house, the flakes were getting bigger.

Maybe there’ll be snow on the ground tomorrow morning. That would be one more thing to be thankful for in year four of the drought. We need snow in the mountains to refill the lakes and reservoirs come spring.
On that note, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
